Who is at risk for prostate cancer?

All men are at risk. The most common risk factor is age. More than 70 percent of men diagnosed with prostate cancer each year are over the age of 65. African American men have a higher risk of prostate cancer than white men. Dramatic differences in the incidence of prostate cancer are also seen in different countries, and there is some evidence that a diet higher in fat, especially animal fat, may account for some of these differences. Genetic factors also appear to play a role, particularly for families in which the diagnosis is made in men under age 60. The risk of prostate cancer rises with the number of close relatives who have the disease

why doing Screening of PSA for a people above the age of 40
1- Prostate cancer is the most common tumour in men .

2- The early the discover the better the diagnosis and life style .

3- wide range of symptoms that most men usually after the age of 40 will feel it from Frequent urination, painful urination or even blood in urine all of these symtoms may lead to protate cancer .

4-blood test ( PSA ) is the only tumour marker that have proven it can diagnose prostat cancer while the other tumour markers not proven to diagnose cancer alone ...

i will discuse both total PSA and free PSA and the relation between them later on inshallah
