CAUSES OF DNA MUTATIONS
DNA mutation can be classified in to two groups based on the causes:
A- Spontaneous MUTATION
B- INDUCED MUTATION
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spontaneous Mutations
spontanous mutations are rare
spontanous mutations are normal in DNA structure
spontanous mutations result from errors in DNA replication or recombinat
The impact of mutation on the population is less severe than it might be because :
spontanous mutations result from errors in DNA replication or recombinat
The impact of mutation on the population is less severe than it might be because :
1-MOST mutations are silent and do not affect the phenotype, many occur in introns or other ‘junk DNA’ such as repeats that aren’t used to encode proteins
2-The genetic code is degenerate, so mutations in the third base of many codons are silent or neutral
3-early death is associated with many mutations
Mutation Rates vary between genes and are influenced by:
1-The nucleotide sequence itself
2-The size of gene (large genes have a higher mutation rate)
3-The presence of nucleotide repeats (increases the risk of mutation)
4-Genes rich in G/C pairs which increased risk, because cytosine is more prone to damage

INDUCED MUTATION
mutations that occur by exposure to mutagens such as chemical radiation, or viruses
SEE YOU ALL
#) Radiation (Photons, UV light, X-rays,..etc
# chemicals that cause modification to DNA bases
# base analogs :chemicals that mimic the normal bases
#Intercalating agents:chemical that binds to DNA AND DISORT THE DNA
I HAVE SOME PICTURE IN MY PC BUT I DID NOT KNOW HOW TO PUT IN MY TOPIC SO I AM VERY SORRY I WILL SOLVE THIS ISSUE AND INCLUDE SOME PICTURE IN NEXT TOPICS
