1)Which of the following statements about the majority of transcriptional regulators is NOT true

a)They determine where to specifically bind a DNA sequence by interacting with the sugar-phosphate backbone of the minor grove of the double helix

b)They form hydrogen bonds, ionic bonds, and hydrophobic interactions with the nitrogenous bases of a DNA sequence

    c) They determine where to specifically bind a DNA sequence by interacting with the nitrogenous bases access able in the major grove of the double helix

d)Their binding generally does not disrupt the hydrogen bonds that holds the double helix together

2)Which of the following statements about the “Universal genetic code” is correct

a)All codons specify more than one amino acid

    b)The genetic code is redundant

c)All amino acids are specified by more than one codon

    d) All codons specify an amino acid

3)Which of the following statements about transcriptional regulators is NOT true

a)Transcriptional regulators usually interact with the sugar-phosphate backbone on the outside of the double helix to determine where to bind on the DNA helix

b)Transcriptional regulators will form hydrogen bonds, ionic bonds and hydrophobic interactions with DNA

c)The DNA-binding motifs of transcriptional regulators usually bind in the major groove of the DNA helix

d)The binding of transcriptional regulators generally does not disrupt the hydrogen bonds that holds the double helix together

4)Which of the nucleotides listed below is a NOT normally found as a component of either an RNA or DNA molecule

    a). dCMP
    b). dGMP
    c). UMP
    d). TMP

5)Which one of the following RNA modification events does NOT take place within the nucleus of a typical eukaryotic cell

a)The 3 ́ end of an mRNA molecule is extended by the "covalent linkage" of a number of adenosine nucleotide residues to form a “Polyadenylated 3 ́-tail”.

b)The 5 ́ end of an mRNA molecule is extended by the "covalent linkage" of a modified Guanine residue to form a "5 ́-cap".

c)The sequence of an mRNA transcript can be “cut and spliced” to remove unwanted "intron" sequences and retain required "exon" sequences

d)Mature spliced mRNA transcripts associate with a ribosome and begin translation

6)Which one of the following is the main reason that a typical eucaryotic gene is able to respond to a far greater variety of regulatory signals than a typical procaryotic gene or operon

a)Eucaryotes have many different types of RNA polymerase whereas bacteria have one

    b) Eucaryotic RNA polymerases use general transcription factors to form RNA polymerase complexes

c)The transcription of a eucaryotic gene can be influenced by proteins that bind far from the promoter and interact via the “Mediator” complex

d)Procaryotic genes are packaged into nucleosomes

7)question In a deoxyribonucleotide molecule to which “prime” (′) carbon atom is the nitrogenous base covalently linked

    The 1′ (prime) carbon/a
    b) The 2′ (prime) carbon
    c) The 3′ (prime) carbon
    d) The 5′ (prime) carbon

            ما المقصود بمصطلح
            de Novo
هذه كلمة فرنسية معناها بلا تحديد ... من اي مكان .. بلا سابق تعريف بهذا المعنى ... عندما نقول

DNA polymerases can't start chain synthesis de novo يعني لا يستطيع البدء بشكل عشوائي
من اي مكان وهكذا ... أرجو ان تكون قد وصلت الفكرة
