    question for microbilogist

    i have a pateint that has a uti and when i do urine cultue i get the followig
    gray colony
    catalze +ve
    coagulase -ve
    b hemolytic colony
    i thought that it is staph. hemolyticus
    is it or not
    if yes what is the antibiotic that i must but ?

    سؤال حلو كتير حتى نجاوب علية بالتاكيد مش راح اعطى اجابة مؤكدة ولكن ساقول التالى


    انا الخصائص التى ذكرتها دلالة على البكتيريا هى من نوع staphylococcus وللتحديد اكثر اعتقد بانة S.epidermidis


    يتميز هذا النوع من البكتيريا بالتالى

    coagulase =negative


    catalase = positive


    non- haemolytice

    white-beige colony


    حتى نتاكد اكثر من ذلك نعمل الفحوصات التالية

    DNAse=negative result

    نعمل على تنميتة على manitol salt agar
    اذا لم يعمل على تخمر سكر المانيتول فهذا يدل على ان البكتيريا هى S.epidermidis

      today i get the result of the sensitivity
      it as the following:
      (AMC,CEC30,CRO,CL30,VA,CXM,CN,E) RESISTANT
      (F, NOVOBIOCIN) SENSITIVE
      IT SEEMS THAT IT IS RESISTANT FOR MOST ANTIBIOTIC
      I READ YESTERDAY ABOUT THE STAPH. HEMOLYTICUS THAT IT IS RESISTANT TO MOST ANTIBIOTICS MAINLY (CN) AND(E)
      SO I NOTICED THAT IT IS IT

        S.epidermidis consider more resistant than S.aures and S.saprophyticus to antibiotice

          Did you make a Gram film to see if the organism is G+ve cocci first, i mean there are many bacteria +ve catalase other than staph

            which plates show growth?
            because even gram negative bacilli is gray, catalase+ , coagulase negative, and some shows hemolysis

              yes, must be make gram stain and show result cocci or bacilli
              if result is cocci ,catalase positive couagulase negative and non hemolytic we will consider it staph epidermidis

              also these resistance due to have beta lactamases becuse almost of antibiotics which appere resistance from beta lactam antibiotics
