Westgard rule is an important part of the QC program in the medical lab ,by westgard rule we can follow the results of daily QC and assess is the QC results are accepted or not, it is also important in assess the qumulative QC results ( more than one day)
westgard rule is chart which establish the mean of the QC material and both first and second standard deviation ( positive and negative )

Westgard multirules
Definition: Multirule QC uses a combination of decision criteria, or control rules, to decide whether an analytical run is in-control or out-of-control.
Types:
A- Rules Testing one day of controls
B-Rules Testing Two days of controls
C-Rules Testing Three days of controls
D-Rule Testing Four days of controls
E-Rule Testing Six days of controls
F-Rule Testing Seven days of controls

1-
112s: A single control exceeds the mean plus 2SD or the mean minus 2SD control limit. This rule is used as a warning signal but we can release the result

13s: A run is rejected when a single control measurement exceeds the mean plus 3SD or the mean minus 3SD control limit.

rule testing two point

(1)-
22s: reject when 2 consecutive control measurements exceed the same mean plus 2s or the same mean minus 2s control limit
(2)-
R4s: reject when 1 control measurement in a group exceeds the mean plus 2SD and another exceeds the mean minus 2SD.

2of 32s: reject when 2 out of 3 control measurements exceed the same mean plus 2s or mean minus 2s control limit.
(2)-
31s: reject when 3 consecutive control measurements exceed the same mean plus 1SD or mean minus 1SD control limit.
