Investigation : RABIES INFECTION

RABIES VIRUS

DIAGNOSIS : The reference method for diagnosing rabies is by performing PCR or viral culture on brain samples taken after death. The diagnosis can also be reliably made from skin samples taken before death.[6] It is also possible to make the diagnosis from saliva, urine and cerebrospinal fluid samples, but this is not as sensitive. Inclusion bodies called Negri bodies are 100% diagnostic for rabies infection, but found only in 20% of cases.

the most common bite-associated infection is caused by a bacterium called Pasteurella multocida
P. multocida will grow at 37 degree on blood or chocolate agar, but will not grow on MacConkey agar.
Colony growth is accompanied by a characteristic "mousy" odor
falcutative anaerobe, it is oxidase (- ve ) and catalaseositive

or may be the infection caused by Streptococcus or Staphylococcus

قد يكون rabies من الامراض التى تنقل نتيجة animal bites

فى هذة الحالة ظهرت بعض الاعراض الموضعية فى مكان الاصابة وهو الاحمرار والسخونة وتكون الصديد والانتفاخ وهذا يدلل على التهاب حدث فى الانسجة الموجودة اسفل الجلد

نعم صحيح

pasturellosis caused by pasturella multicoda(this bacteria present in the oral cavity of dogs

بينما

Bartonellosis caused by Bartonella hensele(this disease caused due to cat scratching

als streptococci present in the oral cavit of the animals

هو بالضبط اسم البكتيريا pasteurella multicoda

جميل ما تم ذكرة من خصائص ولكن لى بعض الاضافات البسيطة

هذة البكتيريا تتميز بالتفاعلات التالية

oxidase=positive وليس negative كما ذكرتية

catalase =positive
indole =positive
urease=negative

نعم صحيح لا تنمو على الماكونكى وايضا لا تنمو على XLD ولا على DCA ايضا لا تنمو على اى وسط يحتوى على BILE SALTS

لمعرف معلومات اكثر عن Bartonellosis

ولكن ليس التى تسببها بكتيريا B.hensele انما التى تسببها بكتيريا
B. bacilliformis

خلينا نحكى شوية عن الاسعافات الاولية اللى ممكن نقدمها للطفل اللى اتعرض لعضة الكلب

نبدأ نعطيه جرعة السعار مباشرة اذا ماكنا ندري ان الكلب مسعور واذا مات نواصل واذا لا نوقف الجرعة

أسعاف عضة الكلب
ان عضة الكلب تكون اشبه بجرح ممزق وملوث ,ولاجل اسعافه يجب ان يعامل كأي جرح اخر .
1. اذا كانت العضة بسيطة نقوم بغسل الجلد في مكان العضة جيدا بالماء و الصابون ومن تم نمسح مكان العضة بمحلول مطهر ثم نضع ضماد معقم عليه ونلفه بشاش نظيفواذا كانت العضة عميقة لابد بعد اتباع السابق ان نضغط علي الجرح لايقاف النزف .
2. نثبت العضو المصاب .
3.ننقل المصاب الى المستشفى مع اعطاءه المضادات الحيوية والمصل المضاد للكزاز التيتانويس.
4. نبلغ السلطات الصحية المسؤولة وذلك لحجز الكلاب المشتبه باصابتها بداء الكلب لمدة
عشرة ايام فأذا بقي الكلب حيا معنى ذلك انه خالي من مرض داء الكلب واذا مات فيعني انه مصاب بهذا المرض .
في حالة حصول ادنى شك بان الكلب مصاب يشتبه باصابته بداء الكلب يجب ان يحقن المصاب بالعضة بلقاح ضد داء الكلب ولمدة سبعة ايام

First Aid
1. Calm and reassure the person. Wear latex gloves or wash your hands thoroughly before attending to the wound. Wash hands afterwards, too.

2. If the bite is not bleeding severely, wash the wound thoroughly with mild soap and running water for 3 to 5 minutes. Then, cover the bite with antibiotic ointment and a clean dressing.

3. If the bite is actively bleeding, apply direct pressure with a clean, dry cloth until the bleeding stops. Raise the area of the bite.

4. If the bite is on the hand or fingers, call the doctor right away.

5. Over the next 24 to 48 hours, watch the area of the bite for signs of infection (increasing skin redness, swelling, and pain).

6. If the bite becomes infected, call the doctor or take the person to an emergency medical center
