    check this case

    : how we can diagnose alpha thalassemia trait
    IF CBC as following:
    RBC=5.04
    HGB=11.7
    HCT=35.9
    MCV=71
    MCH=23
    MCHC=32
    Hg A2=2.3
    iron=normal=49
    is this case suspected to be alph thalassemia trait ? iam waiting for replay
    what is the definitive test for diagnosis of alpha thalassemia ?
    because what the pathologists said is diagnosed by exclusion

      التشخيص: العد الدموي الشامل يكون عادة سليم

      تحليل الرحلان الكهربائي للهيموجلويبن خاصة للمواليد لكن بعد عدة الشهور من العمر يكون التحليل طبيعيا

      التشخيص المؤكد يكون عن طريق فحص الجين المورث DNA analysis

        ازا كانت اقل من 80 تكون الحالة بمحل شك بخلل ثلاسيميا

            ممكن شرح اكثر عن globin chain electrophoresis
            وما قلتوا لي هذي الحالة احتمال ثلاسيميا او ما نقدر نعرف الا ب DNA ??

              Really it is a suspected case of alpha thalassemia, but with one gene or two gene deletions only.
              globin chain electrophoresis will give us the quantity of globin chains from it we can say if alpha chain is reduced.
              But the definitive diagnostic test is DNA

                  because what the pathologists said is diagnosed by exclusion
                  first i see that Iron is at lower border of normal value so check for level of Ferritine if its normal or lower border
                  2nd: A2 is below 3%
                  i think its microcytic animia
