Schindler disease is an inherited metabolic disease. It is one of the lysosomal storage disorders. In Schindler disease, a deficient enzyme, alpha-N-acetylgalactosaminidase (alpha-NAGA), leads to an abnormal accumulation of certain compounds (glycosphingolipids) in the cells of the body. This abnormal accumulation causes damage to the cells that may get worse over time
DiagnosisDiagnosis of Schindler disease is based on the symptoms the individual has, as well as the age the symptoms began. A urine test, blood test, or skin sample (biopsy) may help confirm the diagnosis. In Schindler disease, the blood or skin sample will show decreased activity of alpha-NAGA -

يعتبر هذا من الامراض الوراثية ناتج من احد الطفرات لجين يسمى ب NAGA هذا الجين مسؤل عن اعطاء تعليمات لانتاج احد الانزيمات وهذا الانزيم يسمى ب alpha -N-acetylgalactosaminidase
وضيفة هذا الانزيم يعمل على تكسير المركبات المعقدة مثل الجليكوبروتين والجليكوليبيد
وبالتالى لو تعطل عمل هذا الانزيم فان هذة المركبات تتراكم داخل الخلايا مما يؤثر على نشاط الخلية وبالتالى تموت مثل خلايا الجهاز العصبى
وبالتالى تظهر اعراض هذا المرض المتعددة مثل
تأخر فى المهارات البدنية والعقلية
ظهور اعراض فى الجهاز العصبى
صعف فى العضلات وضعف الرؤية
