Histochemical Stains
Methodology: Histochemical
Performed: Mon-Fri
Reported: 1-5 days
Specimen Required:
Collect: Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue.
Transport: Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue block enriched with tumor at 20-25°C. Protect paraffin block from excessive heat. Ship in cooled container during summer months. Include surgical pathology report.
Unacceptable Conditions: Paraffin block with no tissue remaining and samples fixed in formalin substitute (Prefer®).
Note:
Interpretation of stains is only available in conjunction with a consultation; Refer to Consultation, Surgical Pathology for submission requirements. Stains can be performed and returned for client pathologists to interpret.
